and she's baaaaackkk!!!

Live from the UP-D main lib, once again....

It's me!!!! I know you missed me, darlings! Thanks to everyone who found Janica's pics nice. I'll be uploading more of them soon. (I am currently fixing my flickr account.)

Anyhoo, what's new in this land of fabulosity? Well, lunch is now officially a SPORT! Yep, you got that right. The Fab Crew (a.k.a. Team Lupa) recently launched LunchSport- a competitive catering competition that's sure to add spice to our Tuesday-Friday 11:30 to 1:00 break.

(That sounds so home TV shopping! :p )

The Mechanics:
Each Tuesday or Friday Lunch Break, one of us gets to choose where to eat. The rest now has the exciting task of being critics, considering everything from the taste and price of the food, down to the ambiance, ventilation and sounds.

I know...I have very weird friends! Hahahaha... That's not all- shortly after the lunch portion, we have vote on whether we were satisfied...or not.

So what's the point? Well, it's sort of finding out the best places to dine in UP, plus it gives us a chance to explore all kinds of cuisines. (Obviously, we are so fed up with CASAA food.)

Latest Updates:
The college of science canteen recently redeemed itself when it got a nod from us. Vinzons was also given a second chance. Lutong Kapitbahay is the new all-time favorite, getting a 100% approval from all of us.

So, what do you think?

Masrap ka ba?
Matikman nga.

In other news:
I'm sorry Abychu, dear. You know I really like you, but I just can't believe that you said you are anti-homosexuals. I will not be self-imposing here, but I just hope that you'll take the time to seriously think about what you said.

Peace to all- ladies, gents and queers!

sadness...

this is totally shallow, but forgive me. i think i deserve to put in things like this because i have been working my ass off on all the other days.

let me just say that...
we must all mourn for a week has passed and we have not seen Cello yet!

some have been speculating that he must be an Octoberian. Sadness.

To compensate for this great loss, my crazy friends are either giving away my number to their lesbian friends or totally selling me out to their Ateneo friends. I don't think any of that wil work...because as of now, I am enjoying Geekdom! Yes! I have gone from Diva to Nerdette! As of the moment, I am spending time wisely at the UP Diliman Main lib, enjoying the serenity and exploiting their wi-fi!

Aaaahhhh.. This is the life! Somehow, I have gotten sick of the AS lobby atmosphere and all the fab passers-by with their immaculate feet clad in havaianas. I am in for the new crowd! :)

As they say, all the good kids hang out in the lib:
1. those who are sleeping
2. those who are studying
3. those who are working as student assistants

I don't know where I fall under.
Anyhoooooo, I just came from Geog1 class under Prof. Teodoro Santos, and I am super bummed out. Yeah, sure, he's old. I am supposed to have no problem about that, but the class was soooo blaaaaah.

He kept on asking us questions until the class ended. I was feeling so eager pa naman to listen to a lecture and take down notes.

He asked us to define "place", "landscape", "nature", "environment", "ecosystem", "society" and "technology". Of course, we didn't have any decent answer.

Just a thought, he said that there are 3 Fundamental Philosophies relating Man to Nature...

1. Man is a separate category from Biotic and Abiotic things.
2. Man is just under the Biotic Category, meaning we are in the same group as the ferns and bacteria and all other living things.
3. Man belongs to the category which comprises the ecosystem, meaning we are in the same group as the ferns and bacteria and the rocks and everything else.

He believes in number 1. I believe in number 2. Though I tend to have a more humanistic approach to my beliefs, I don't find it necessary to place Man in a pedestal above all other creatures.

Teka lang... Sounds familiar no? Para bang...

You think you own whatever land you land on
Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

You think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You learn things you never knew
You never knew

Go on with the chorus darlings!

the Crisline G. Torres

I have this feeling that Ma'am Torres (of PolSci 14) will be one of my most favorite and most respected professors of all time. Hahaha...

So first of, the ground rules:

1. When she talks, you listen. a very reasonable rule, I must say
2. Classes start at 1:05 when you come in at 1:06, she'll know because she uses the GMT
3. Cellphones and alarms must be turned off.
4. You may not enter the class room if the professor of the previous class is still in. again, just anouther basic courtesy that most UP students ignore
5. Keep quiet while waiting in the corridor. If a professor reports that you have been noisy, she will (depending on the severity of anger) penalize you by either deducting 2 points from your class performance or assign you to write a 500-page book review.

The figures may be overwhelming, but I can tell she's not kidding.

Those are just some of the rules. The next one is our (Lowell and moi) favorite rule:
You must not endanger your classmates.

That one sounds so harsh,no? It means that if you have an ongoing ramble with a frat or if you have a CONTAGIOUS DISEASE, please absent yourself.

I like her rules. :)

This is the plus side:
If you have perfect attendance and perfect punctuality, you automatically get a .25 bonus. Not bad at all!

Plus, if you top her exams or get a final grade of 1.0- you get to have a free, personalized souvenir bookmark. There are three chances of getting a bookmark...

I want to collect all three!!!!

She's so much fun. I enjoy being in the presence of someone commanding. The problem with us, UP students, sometimes we tend to think that we can do anything we want. It's good when you have someone who can take on the reins and enforce reasonable rules efficiently.

You see? So maybe, I'm not so much of a brat! :)

Much love from the main library,
mimosexx

aloo loveys!

Greetings from the University of the Philippines Main Library! I have been a very productive student today, and I plan on being so for the rest of the semester. (Applause, please.)

Things have been great for the past few days.(Wait. Why is this beginning to sound like a letter to my relatives??) I already met all my professors in my subjects this sem, and I must say that they are a very potent mix of crazy fashion, military rules and sarcasm.

COMM100- Prof. Jasminez
So far so good. She came to our first class dressed as a Londoner/chic biker in an orange coat, white shirt, leggings and pointy boots. How divaaaahhh! (Plus the fact that she was wearing black eyeshadow at 8 AM) Enzo says she looks a bit like Elvira. I don't care. She looks like my long-lost Diva Fairy Godmother.

ArtStud1- Prof. Herrera
She's okay. I don't know anything about her yet, except that she has this really gorgey blue glass ring that makes up for the fact that she has bandages on her elbow and right foot.

PolSci14- Prof. Crisline Torres
She deserves a post entirely dedicated to her. I bet she will be my star prof for the sem, and I am trying to play her game by being overly OC as well. This is why as early as now, I am already reading the three different versions of the Philippine Constitution. (Well, some chapters are *optional* readings.)

Geog1- Sir Teodoro Santos
He seems to be a very fair prof, and I respect him for that. He'll prove to be interesting as well, later on.

NatSci1- Sir Abastillas
He's craaaaazzzy!! He's a bit like sir Mercado (from HS Geometry) but he likes to joke (to himself) and laugh (for no apparent reason). How's that?! Everytime I glance around the class, everyone's almost asleep. Oddly, I never get bored in his class.

Cheerleading- Prof. Perena
I won't be seeing much of her, but she's requiring us to watch 10 UAAP games (softball, baseball, football, volleyball) and 5 dance concerts. I don't know if I'm happy with that. You either get a 1 or a 5 in this class. On the bright side, I'll be seeing cute guy #2 often and the guys from UP Filipiniana.

I sound so "today I ate spaghetti,no?"
Well., I don't think so. Today, I ate vegan kare-kare (with matching "fake" bagoong) and vegan sisig.

(Oops, I think I already spilled where I'm planning to take my lunch friends on my catering day!)

fab day pics!

Better super late than never dearies! I totally forgot about the fab day pics! Fortunately, we had a shoot this weekend and that reminded me to go through my files again.

Enjoy!

Top row (from the left): me, treisha, anne, jacko, janica, eees, dash
Next row (from the left): edgar, anjo, casti, erielle, tova, brother

Take note of Tova's fab tennis-y outfit! Treisha's gone all sparkly popstar, and Janica was a tropical diva for fab day. It was so much funnnn! Thanks to our ateneo friends (eees, jacko and anjo) for gracing the event!

So then, I must be reaally gay

I am so stunned. KIM STOLZ IS THE HOTTEST PERSON EVER! I'm gonna take back what I said about her not being fierce. The following shots show just how rawwwwwrrrr she is.

This is fierceness. I love the hair.

This one's so Twiggy.

Okaaaaay, you're probably bored with all this. She rocked the killer shoes. I totally love her.

ultimate crush

Would you believe it? There is actually no "Man of the Moment" for the fab crew. Janica and I are still deliberating on whether to let go of Cello or not. As for Janica, she's planning on focusing more on her studies (as we should all be doing) and focusing more on a new guy (hahaha! I've seen this Japanese-y guy already. Hottish!)

As for me, there is someone new. I am so crushing big time on Kim Stolz from America's Next Top Model Cycle 5. She's not exactly fierce, but she's not too fragile. She's spunky and yeaaaaaahhh, she's gay and that's why I am madly in love with her. (Now, what does that make me?)

Anyway, I found out she graduated from Wesleyan University with honors and a degree in Governance (or something like that). I love any smart ass.

I am so in love with Kim. I'll probably die if I see her in person. Feast your eyes on my lady love.

enrolment: a murderous affair

Thank God I made it through 1 looooonnnnggg day of never-ending pila! Good thing I wore flats or my feet would have just died. Sometimes though, you actually have to choose fashion over comfort, which is why I chose to stand by my layered look amidst the crazy heat! It kinda paid off anyway.

I think I'll never get used to this process, ever. I am just thankful that the people from the College of Mass Comm and the CommRes Department were friendly enough. (Special thanks to my adoptive adviser who didn't cancel my enlisted subjects even though I didn't go through the pre-advising process. He even lauded me for my (surprisingly) high grades.)

After a brief medley of Disney movie theme songs (while desperately waiting in line), Joy - a blockmate, asked why there were never rallies against the tiring and seemingly inhumane enrolment procedures.

I said, maybe UP students are actually proud of this process. It's a meaningful ritual, especially for us freshies. It's a twice-a-year baptismal of fire, an event where you can showcase your physical strength and your unwavering zeal for education. :)

Every person who stands in line represents someone who wants to be somebody in the near future. Though sweaty, oily and extremely tired, their faces are all branded with the same expression- I am tough. It's do or die, and I'm going to do everything to get enrolled.

Do you remember all those dramatic lines our parents lash out at us to make us feel guilty all the time?

Why do want a car right now? When we were studying, we used to walk more than a kilometer just to get to school! We did that everyday for how many years!

Why do you want a raise in allowance? When we were studying, we didn't have any allowance! You're lucky. We just bought pandesal for lunch everyday. If we wanted to have money, we had to wash our neighbor's car!

And the list goes on... The graver the offense, the more dramatic these lines get.

Now with my enrolment experience, I now have an equally dramatic spiel..

Can you at least show me a bit of appreciation for my efforts? What is a shopping spree compared to the hours I have spent waiting in line during the enrolment? And don't you dare call me selfish! Do you think I am doing this all for myself?? Well, maybe yes. But that's all because I want you to be proud of me. So before you say no, just picture me getting all sweaty and haggard just to get enrolled!

Hahahahaha...

All the fabulosity!

days of fun

whooopeee!

today, i am a grown-up kid locked up in a shoe salon! hahahaha. i am toying around with Anya and she is so much fun. I've never been the techie, so you can just imagine how surprised and joyful i am upon discovering her features.

yay! finally! i fully-dependable, working laptop -the perfect companion for those nights of cramming and those boring weekends!

this is a win-win situation! (my favorite!) last night, via Anya, i was able to show the 'rents (Mutti and Vatti) some proof of deserving-ness. they saw my grades online. i think they're happy about the, um, academic situation.

Mutti: totoo ba yan?
Vatti: mana sa'kin yan! hoy, tawagan mo na ung tito mo.
me: why?
Vatti: singilin mo na ng utang niya.

In other news, tomorrow's the grand enrolment day for UP Diliman people like me, and i am feeling nervous. I hate events like this. I never really got used to processing documents, and falling in line and having to run after other people. The whole thing freaks me out, kinda like getting your passport. (By the way, i don't totally agree that the Passport Department of the DFA is the most effective, ergo friendliest government service. They almost made me cry, and the way they ask questions made me feel like an escaped criminal.) Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to getting over it right away.

I bet it's gonna be a looooonggggg, stressful day tomorrow. Note to self: wear flat shoes. With UP being actually the University of Pila everyone expects to get some major energy drain.

In other other news, I have a very interesting lineup of subjects for the second sem. I have ART STUDIES, which sounds like fun. I have GEOG1, one of my favorite subjects (much to my own surprise) and rumored to be uno-able at the same time. I have 2 major subjects already, COMM100 and POLSCI14. Aaaaaannnnnd, (trumpets please.) NATSCI1, a very interesting combination of chemistry and physics (everyone's favorite topics!).

I know, what the hell was I thinking when i enlisted for NatSci? I'm not so sure, but hey- it fascinates me. Hahahaha.

Kisses and so much fun from the house of sour gummy bears and sheer fabulosity,

loveliness!

everyone, meet my new baby Anya...

because i am so vain and obsessed, i decided to name my new laptop that. see? sometimes, it still pays to be good. it still pays to do good. because i have been such a good girl for the rest of the first sem, mutti and vatti rewarded me with a new laptop, and i swear- it's our fastest impulse shopping ever.

Ate Charlotte's got Ashleigh, Iza has Eon and I have Anya. Happiness, and Jubilations!

I wasn't really in such a big rush to buy a new laptop, but Anya is immaculately white- and that really got me. Kinda reminds me of the Barbra Streisand guesting on Oprah where she had her mic spray-painte white to match her outfit.

It's all part of Diva duties.

Haaaaaayyy.. this means Goodbye Jofer the perv! Hello sweet wi-fi freedom!

In other news,Treisha's staying with me for the rest of the sem! Yay! At least, it's 2 on 3. Fair enough, right?

Fabulosity all the way!

moralmentality

two questions, darlings:

1. Does it still pay to be good?
2. What am I supposed to be?

i'll answer later. think about your answers too.

C h i n i k a n i M i m o s e n u n g b a n d a n g 5:28 PM

bituwing walang ningning moment of all time!

i checked out the grades viewing part at the crs online today...

and i liked what i saw.

Huwahaaaahhaaaaaatttttt??!!!!!

This is so bituwing walang ningning. Right now, my dearest fans, I own this moment as an academic diva. Sure, it's not fun at all to read about some lukarette gloat about her (surprisingly high) grades, but i'm feeling antsy as hell and i'm just dying to share that i got an uno in creative writing!!!!

Whoot.

Yeah, I know, my reaaaallly loyal fans (i.e. my grandmother) tell me that "Sure, darling, darling you're a great writer." BUT, having Prof. Mooney in CW10 made me feel so mediocre (which I probably am, in real life, BIG TIME AT THAT!). She was so critical on our works all the time!

Why is your margin this big? Does it mean something? Did you think it would contribute to the atmosphere of your work?

What is this dash doing over here? Does it symbolize something?

This word. This word is just so, so problematic!

Now, I realize that she may have been the goddess of mercy in her past life.

I have surpassed my own expectations for my grades this sem. Now, with a high GWA, I can now do some reasonable extortion.

Isn't this just fabulous? Just a month ago, my cousin Charlotte gave birth to a really pretty baby girl named Ashleigh Faith. (Blame the name on the fact that the mother is an honest-to-goodness docile colegiala.) And just this week, my other cousin Iza gave birth to a really gorgey baby boy named Eon Gavin. The baby's really hotttt!!! Hahahaha..

Since I am the only unmarried and deliriously single female cousin left in my mother's side of the family, I was quite pressured to bring some good news of my own. I guess Mutti will be proud to share that she has one totally-drug free daughter with high grades and no baby (yet).

Hahahaha. Fabulosity all the way!
