5 things and 1 thing.
Here's an excerpt of an exercise we were told to do for my Comm Res 110 class. We were told to write journal entries on 5 things we've done which we think the other members of the class haven't and 1 thing that we'd like to do now.
Here goes my list of the unusually cheesy things I've done that most other people my age would find very, very silly or just plain embarrassing.
1.I have traveled from General Santos City to South Cotabato on a tricycle!
I like to travel, and I also thrive on spontaniety. Back in grade school, on a school trip, my friends and I took the roads less traveled and crossed pineapple plantations on a tricycle. It was fun and a bit scary, not to mention a literal pain in the ass, to be sitting inside a cramped tricycle for three hours. We ended the joyride with lunch at a local eatery with bullet-riddled walls fresh from a recent Pentagon Group attack.
2. I have been a contestant on a TV game show!
Back in my days as a full-time nerd, I once represented my high school in a tv game show - Digital LG Challenge. It was fun and super embarrassing at the same time, but it was definitely fun to pretend that I'm smart. Haha. And yeah, I was a finalist.
3. I have interviewed uniformed policemen inside a crowded train.
Oh, the things that I would do to satiate my curiosity! Just recently, I interviewed a group of policemen inside the MRT. I've been dying to know what sorts of perks they get from their job, partly because I've been considering a career as a policeman-wife or military wife. Turns out, they get to ride the MRT for free whenever they're in uniform. And yes, they told me I might get freebies even with a policeman Halloween costume.
4. I have been a guest and co-host of a radio program! (Ha! and triple Ha!)
Part of my duties as a former DTI- Standards Advocate was to take part and make appearances in some DTI-sponsored events and programs. Because of that, I got to be a guest and co-host on DZMM's Konsyumer ATBP. twice! Those who were able to tune in during my guesting surely gained profound knowledge on consumer rights from me. Ha!
5. I got to "star" in a Hindu Opera!
As a requirement for our music class in high school, we had to stage a Hindu Opera. For whatever reason, I was cast as the lead character and had to memorize ridiculously complicated songs in Hindu. I still remember some lines that go like: "
rama naama bhava trasa nivaare..."
Sadly, the record producers were not impressed.
For that ONE THING I'D REALLY LOVE TO DO NOW...
I would love to go on a leave of absence and go backpacking to Batanes with a couple of friends or even a couple of strangers.
Batanes is such a wonderful place, with the stone houses and the typhoons. Haha. But I'd really love to go awaaaaaay, and Batanes seems to be the perfect place to nurse a broken heart (what the fozz?!) or in my case, a damaged brain.
** What is wrong with my keyboard?? Why is everything in italics now?
Anyway, what have we learned from this particular exercise? Well, it goes to show that my life is still at least interesting. Number two, this gives me five things to gloat about. Thirdly, this establishes the fact that I've had a pretty traumatic and embarrassing adolescent life.
I want to know, what are your five things?
Labels: embarrassing stuff, five things, hopes and dreams, pickled jellyfish
